Breakthroughs and Consequences

Breakthroughs

Several breakthroughs must be made, including finding inexpensive and environmentally-friendly materials that will efficiently catalyze the splitting of water to obtain hydrogen gas and designing a safe and practical storage system for the hydrogen gas released after water is split.

Consequences

Positive

  • Problems caused by pollution will be minimized.

  • Hydrogen that can be stored as a fuel will be produced in masses.

  • Fuel prices will be stabilized.

  • Jobs will be created.

Negative

  • Expensive overhead costs.

  • Initially requires a large supply of water in order to run.
